30 Days of Guardian: Day 2

The Mount-River Awl case, which had:
1. Zhao Yunlan charming all the information out of Shen Wei's students and Shen Wei's "Arrgh!" reaction. Also, Jiajia's obvious crush on Shen Wei, which was kind of adorable.
2. The second sleeping-on-Shen Wei's-shoulder scene, which was even more incredible than the first because Zhao Yunlan was fully conscious for it. And Shen Wei subtly adjusting the pillow so Yunlan would be more comfortable was just <3
3. The jacket-gifting scene.
4. Zhu Hong's "There's someone here who's actually the bearer of bad luck" comment, her meaningful/challenging glance at Shen Wei afterwards, and Shen Wei's "Oh boy, this girl really hates me," expression. Call me petty, but I just love Zhu Hong's jealousy of Shen Wei. After reading way too many stories where the male love interest is not given even a ghost of a fighting chance and exists either to be a hindrance to the protagonist and his leading lady's love or to sacrifice himself so that the main couple can live happily-ever-after, it was refreshing to see something that makes it clear it's the girl who doesn't have a chance. (Note that I'm mostly referring to a subset of East Asian fiction; this is not a trope the west favours, afaik)
5. Shen Wei being awesome both in civilian mode and Envoy mode (loved him turning Zhu Hong's hypnosis back on her) and Zhao Yunlan finally warming up to the Envoy after several arcs of prickliness. Also, one of the earliest and best examples of their fighting/walking/simply occupying the screen in sync.
6. The drinking scene, which - amongst the innumerable instances of Shen Wei's love - is still in the top 3 for me.
7. Zhao Yunlan's discovery of Shen Wei's identity.
8. The Hanga tribe story, mainly because Wang Zheng and Sang Zan are my favourite secondary couple.
9. Chu Shuzhi's thumbs-up to Guo Changcheng when he shocked Zhao Yunlan with his electric baton XD Very minor compared to my other points, perhaps, but cracks me up every time I remember it. Also, a nice follow-up to that snippet in the Butler Wu case where Chu Shuzhi was obviously jealous of/annoyed by Changcheng gushing over their Chief.
