15. Villain you'd like redeemed Scene/arc you wish had been expanded on

Why, yes, I did pick this question specifically to give myself a chance to rant about the YOHE arc! Because that's the one point where I honestly thought the plot went off the rails in a way that cannot be salvaged unless we studiously ignore all evidence to the contrary and just take it on the most meagre of throwaway comments/hints that Zhao Yunlan spent at least a month in the past. Whatever you want to read his relationship with past Shen Wei as, it still would not make sense for anyone - not even adorably naive teen!Shen Wei and considerably-less-jaded kitten!Da Qing - to imprint on him to that extent without at least a few weeks spent, say, fighting and strategising and camping and sharing meals together.

And then there was how quickly and ludicrously the battle with Ye Zun over the Hallows was resolved. I have no words, really.

Which is why the YOHE arc is the one part of the show where I'll take fanon over canon any day.

Yes, in every possible way, YES. I just rewatched those eps recently and it grates on me how it's outwardly presented as two days but it makes zero sense if it were that short. Absolutely No Way. I have a few hills to die on for Guardian and this is one of them. The YOHE arc has to have lasted at least a month, if not more. Fanon to the rescue (sorry, canon!).

Right!? I don't know why they didn't just include, say, a couple of lines to the effect of, "Since Kunlun joined our ranks a few months back..." if they didn't have enough time/budget to actually film those scenes! As it is, the only thing we can hinge on a bit is them asking Da Qing how long they'd been gone from the present time, and looking relieved when they found out it was only a couple of days... And that's very thin indeed.
